Again I modified the previous theme to create this new one. The general principle was simplicity, so I removed many little things, and only the necessary parts remained.
The colour scheme is black background with white and light grey text. This reminds me of the personal website I created seven or eight years ago, when I was still a 'wen qing' (文青, young people who loves writing). At that time I was deeply obsessed with such a colour scheme because I found it 'profound'. Well I chose this scheme again today not because it was 'profound' but rather because it was comfortable to me at this moment.
The previous theme is white background with black and dark grey text. Maybe one day I shall name my blog a zebra. White stripes on black skin, or black stripes on white skin, either way it is a zebra.
UPDATE 2009-12-15: After 4 days I realized white background with black text is still more comfortable than the opposite… So I convert the colours…
Its release candidates have been around for some time but I was too patient to jump in, until today, when the release was finally available. The upgrade was smooth, except for WP Sticky plugin, which is not compatible (and apparently not being developed any more); but it matters not now, for the new version of WordPress handles this function.
The back end has been greatly and elegantly renovated. The previously horizontal menu tabs are now on the left, saving a lot of space and making the writing area more comfortable. Not only the appearance has been changed; the menu items have been regrouped, reducing quite a number of clicks to everyday accessed functions.
There are many other convenient features added into this new version. For example, you can reply to comments on dashboard, and it works seamlessly with WP Thread Comment plugin.
The QuickPress on the dashboard allows fast posting without entering the writing panel.
The official blog said it all. If you are a WordPress user, you will certainly love it!
